"I can't sleep." You laid on the futon with eyes wide open, been trying to drift off to dreamland like any other night with several ways, but this time, nothing works. You groaned and rolled yourself to the side, sighing in defeat as you sit up and take your coat. "Maybe, I'll have a stroll."
However, right after you step out of the door, you happen to meet Hanako who seems to be in a midnight stroll as well. You guys stopped and glance at each other until he suddenly smiles and ask, "What are you doing out here, y/n? Aren't you supposed to be asleep?"
A sigh automatically came out from your mouth. Once again you're feeling stress and troubled with that exact issue. You started to whine like a spoiled kid. "I can't sleep, Hanako-kun. Help meee~"
It's weird after all. There's a lot of things you did in this study camp. You're supposed to be tired and fell asleep as fast as you hit the futon and the pillow. It might be because of different environment, you thought for some mere seconds before going to school, but you don't really think that will be the case if you're exhausted enough. You didn't expect that's really gonna be the real problem that you have to face right now!
Everyone sounded asleep. Even Nene and Aoi that planned to stay up and play. Some student council members probably still awake at their office, but it's better to avoid them in the stroll. Or else, they will punish you. You begin to feel jealous of everyone now. Your classmates are asleep, the student council members are awake accompanying each other when you're completely conscious and alone, that's if your ghost boyfriend never pass. Fortunetly, he does.
He giggled when you come closer and nuzzled your head againts his shoulder, being the clingy girlfriend you are. That boyfriend of yours held you close, making you feel very comfortable. You take a deep scent of his that is close to nothing at all. It's just... Air.
"Wanna walk with me? We should be careful tho, I saw the lights in student council office are still on," he said while playing with your hair out of nowhere. "So soft-"
He most probably didn't realise he said the last part out loud. You hum as your reach up quickly to mess with his hair as well. "Yours too!"
It isn't enough to make his hat fall tho. What a pity. He just laugh at your antics, a slight blush appeared on his face. What an adorable expression. It'll be good if you can take a picture of it. Unfortunately he's a ghost, so there's no way you can do it. It'll just show everything behind his back. Empty.
"Let's have our midnight date. The rooftop will be so cold right now-but I wanna see the stars with you. It's romantic~" You suggested as you take his hand and walk.
"I have a better idea. Let's go to the infirmary." His hand pulling you to a different direction.
"Hm? Won't Tsuchigomori sensei be there?" You look at him with confused face, yet you still following along which each of his steps. Indeed, it won't be cold to gaze up at the stars from there. That room has a lot of blanket and usually pretty warm.
"He's in the library," he said as he opened the door and take you in. The lights are off, but the room is bright enough for you to look around well. It's probably because the big window let the moon and stars shine in, it feels magical.
While you're completely taken with the dim light of the room, Hanako is already busy preparing a small fort behind the nurse desk. No one outside can tell immediately if there's you guys if you hide in there. You smiled at his consideration.
"Y/n, come here." His hand is extended to you when he finished it. "Ah, grab some more blanket, Hakujyoudai."
You come closer and sit beside him. The blanket that your boyfriend ask for now is landed on your lap. You burried your face on the top of it happily. "So warm."
You guys are too busy with your own different worlds for some seconds until he commands. "Give me your hand."
You just gave it to him obediently as if it's the most natural thing ever. You know he will never harm you. Even if he did, you won't mind. You're curious of what he's gonna do though. He could just wanna hold it. But tonight, the vibes is somehow different. Your heart is racing for anticipation.
However, nothing happened. He just look up to the sky and so are you. You closed your eyes in embarrassment, you worked up for nothing. You sneak some tiny glance of him, adoring his beautiful face. The brunnette locks of his hair, his golden orbs that are now reflecting the moon, and the fair skin of his... They all look so surreal. How could he just look so wonderful-
You played his fingers that intertwined with yours, brushing it againts each other, pulling, letting go, and slowly connect it again with mind going blank. Your eyes peek to see his reaction, but it seems like he didn't even realise a thing. You wonder...
"I love you so much." A low whisper unconsciously slipped out from your mouth. It took him by suprise.
He heard.
His face instantly grew red as he look back at you who starts to feel flustered as well. Burying your face back on the blanket as you try to hide, you can feel he caress your cheek as he brushes your hair to the back of your ear. He grew silent.
"Hanako-kun?" When you finnaly uncovered your face a bit to see why he got so quiet, you can feel his soft lips landed on your forehead. "I-"
"It's time for you to go to sleep," he tells you with a gentle smile.
Already?!
"You still got a lot of things to do tomorrow. We already stargazing a bit didn't we? Come on, go to sleep. You can lay on my lap" He pulled you down before you can even say anything. You blinked hesitantly, still shocked on how everything went by so fast. You thought you could spend more time together.
"I'm not sleepy yet..." You complained while making yourself feel more comfortable. Then, a sudden idea popped up into your head. "What if you sing me a lullaby?"
"A lullaby?"
You giggled to yourself. Imagining what if he's tone deaf or something. But to break your expectation, he unexpectedly start singing to you softly. You can feel chills sinked to your body. HE'S REALLY GOOD.
You stared at him with wide eyes. Which he replied with a frown.
"What?" He asked.
"That was so good just now-"
"Thank you?"
"How come I never knew this."
"That's kinda rude, but now you know."
"I love you."
"Now you just start to say it whenever you like don't you?"-"Come on, go to sleep already~"
"I want a good night kiss." A request just came out in a playful manner. You didn't expect he will really do it. Or-will he?
"Okay." Hanako pecked your lips fast, setting your brain in hang as he laughs at your expression. "Good night. Sweet dreams, y/n."
"But I-"
"Close your eyes." His hands covered your vision and you feel yourself slowly drifted off your consciousness. When he finnaly see you fell asleep and he heard nothing but your steady breathing, that ghost boy picked you up and bring you all the way back to the futon you left before. The Hakujyoudai helped him covering your body with your favourite blanket.
Your boyfriend look down to your calm beautiful face as he whispered to your ears. "I love you way more."
You smiled in your sleep, making it easy for him to guess what kind of dream you're having right now. The confession scene before you guys get together replaying in front of your eyes. He's standing with a determined face under the tree of gardening club as he said, "I love you, y/n. Go out with me!"
You
will always accept him no matter what, so you mumbled a yes. Hanako
tucked your hair away from your face and smiled gently again, letting
out another whisper. "Thank you... I'm so lucky to have you."
